Clinical Research Centres
The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network operates Clinical Research Centres at both The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. Together, these Centres conduct over 80 studies per year.
The Centres support clinical research at each hospital to allow kids to access novel therapies and innovative research in safe, family-friendly environments. For clinicians, these Centres provide the facilities and resources to support active engagement in research and the translation of interventions from bench to bedside.
Our teams of research nurses assist clinical investigators and industry partners to conduct clinical research, including clinical trials, with children, with a focus on quality, efficiency and performance. They do this by offering advice, support, training and access to clinical research resources. Researchers and industry sponsors can contract these services to meet the needs of their study.
A dedicated, purpose-built Clinical Research Centre was opened at Kids Research at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in 2018. The Centre provides facilities including an interactive kids zone, parent consultation rooms, pharmacy, allied health services and the integrative capacity to conduct large-scale clinical research studies specifically for children. This follows the completion of the Bright Alliance building in 2017, which houses the Clinical Research Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Research conducted into the prevention and management of childhood diseases encompass a variety of therapeutic areas and clinical phases. To find out more about clinical trials, including actively recruiting studies, please click here.
