Clinical Trials in Neuroscience & Muscle Research

Group Leader: Associate Professor Kristi Jones

We undertake clinical research and conduct clinical trials to identify the best therapeutic interventions for diseases involving the muscles and nerves. Our research is leading to better drug, occupational and physical therapies for children with a range of neuromuscular disorders. Our clinical trials research involves clinical trials specialists, neurologists, physiotherapists, genetic counsellors and occupational therapists across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network.

Current projects include:

  • Pathophysiology and novel therapies for spinal muscular atrophy and other peripheral nerve disorders
  • Assessment of standing wheel-chair devices for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • Foot and ankle exercise trial for children with Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease
  • Early Diagnosis for LMNA-related muscular dystrophy
  • Patterns of disease in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • Treatment of neuropathy with Riboflavin
