Exciting news for Kids Research
Big news! We have undergone a significant transformation. We have a new name, Kids Research, and a new brand identity to reflect our expanded organisation.
Kids Research includes research undertaken by our students, affiliated academic staff and research staff based at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Kids Research Institute, named in 2009, was the research arm of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, dedicated to finding better treatments for sick kids. At Sydney Children’s Hospital, the Randwick Paediatric Research group was set up to support research goals at that hospital. Now Kids Research brings together all of these researchers working towards the same goal.
The timing of the expansion and new identity fits with the completion of the new purpose-designed paediatric Clinical Research Centre. It is part of the Kids Research project at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, as part of the Westmead Redevelopment. This follows the completion of the Bright Alliance building at Sydney Children’s Hospital last year, which houses the Clinical Research Centre for the Randwick site.
Professor Chris Cowell, Director of Research, said ‘We are excited to announce our new name and identity and welcome the collaboration between researchers at both Hospitals and our academic partners, increasing our capacity and building a vibrant world-leading paediatric research organisation.’
