Dan Catchpoole has Big Data, Big Impact
We are pleased to announce that Kids Research Institute's A/Prof Dan Catchpoole and team received the Big Data, Big Impact Grant - Stage 2 award at the 2016 Cancer Institute NSW Premier's Awards for Outstanding Cancer Research held last Friday, 5th August. This award will enable the Children's Cancer Research Unit team, led by Dan Catchpoole, and his collaborators at the University of Technology, Sydney, led by A/Prof Paul Kennedy, to continue their research looking at how to use an individual's genetics data to aid in clinical decision-making about cancer treatments.
The team received $150,000 to continue their project "Deep Learning of Complex Genomics Data for Effective Clinical Decisions" in Stage 2, which follows on from the exciting advances the team has made in this field in Stage 1 in just one year.
