Careers and Research Forum 2010

The Sydney Medical School, Sydney Nursing School, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences & Faculty of Dentistry will be hosting the Career and Research Forum on the 12th August.

This is opportunity for students get practical career tips and advice from people working in a wide variety of disciplines in medicine, public health, nursing, pharmacy, health sciences and dentistry.

The Kids Research Institute will be one of the many group's to be attending this event so make sure you drop by to see what great opportunities we can offer you.

New Event: CHERI workshop with Prof Amanda Kirby.

A day in the life of the child with developmental disorder - focusing on Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

9am-1pm, 1st September 2010, The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

This workshop will take an ecological approach to intervention, considering the home to school continuum, and will demonstrate the latest understanding of all aspects of motor, social and communication disorders such as DCD and ASD. The overlap of DCD with other conditions such as ADHD, Dyslexia and specific language impairment will be also considered in order to know how to support the ‘whole child’.

This workshop is aimed at:

  • Health professionals – occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists
  • Educational professionals - teachers, support teachers, teaching aides, educational psychologists

Award recognises young researcher's achievements

Researcher Min Hu has been awarded the International Basic Science Mentee/Mentor Travel Award by The Transplantation Society to attend The International Congress of The Transplantation Society in Vancouver, Canada.

She received the award for her excellent scientific abstract that advances the understanding of transplant science/immunology and the treatment of transplant recipients. Read more...

The Vaccines in Public Health Workshop is on again- September 1st & 2nd

This two day workshop will be held on September 1st and 2nd at The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

The course is an elective within the Master of Public Health and Master of International Public Health programs at The University of Sydney. It is also available to any health professional interested in vaccines and public health.
